Hub Pen’s Susan Su Promoted to Category Sourcing Manager

Braintree, MA, July, 2017 – Hub Pen Company and Beacon Promotions are proud to announce that Susan Su has been promoted to the position of Category Sourcing Manager. In this role, Susan will have the strategic responsibilities to rationalize and expand Hub’s product offering within the writing instrument category. She will work closely with different stakeholders within the company to ensure that Hub’s products continue to maintain their market competitiveness.  She will continue to work closely with the buyers on supplier performance and supplier relationship management.

Susan has been with Hub Pen since 2008, on inventory planning, new product introduction and supplier quality. Prior to her position in Hub Pen, Susan worked many years as System Group Manager at Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center, a joint venture with General Motors, responsible for creating instruction manuals, engineering work order (EWO), BOM and engineering change.  She also worked on prototype parts evaluation and validation and approval during developmental stages and resolve any engineer and quality related issues.

Origaudio Co-founders Honored with Supplier Entrepreneur Award

(Chicago, IL – July 12, 2017) Counselor magazine recognized Jason Lucash and Mike Szymczak with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the 2017 Counselor Awards during the ASI Show® Chicago. The award ceremony took place at Morgan Manufacturing in downtown Chicago with over 250 industry suppliers and distributors in attendance.

Including Origaudio co-founders, 12 different recipients were honored with awards of distinction in 11 separate categories including Entrepreneurs of the Year, Woman of Distinction, and The Bess Cohn Humanitarian Award. The award ceremony also recognized the top 40 distributors and 40 suppliers in the promotional product industry. Award winners were chosen by the editors of ASI’s award­-winning Counselor magazine to recognize outstanding individuals and companies.

Pioneer Balloon Company received three awards in the “Wide Web” category for three different foil balloons from the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) at its 2017 Excellence in Flexography Awards at Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, NY, from January 28-30: an FTA Gold award, an FTA Silver award, and an FTA Bronze award.

The Excellence in Flexography Awards recognizes exemplary package printing. Awards are judged over a three-day period by a group of flexographic industry experts. Categories include wide web, mid web, narrow web, combined corrugated, preprinted linerboard, envelope, self-promotion and non-traditional flexography, college student, and high school student. Out of 481 entries at this
year’s awards, only 121 were honored as being noteworthy flexographically printed pieces. According to the FTA’s website, “Flexographic Technical Association is the premier destination for flexography training, articles, events and other resources. Since 1958, FTA has been providing the means to an end: Enabling flexographers to grow their skills, connect with likeminded individuals,
expand their reachable market and drive flexography to package printing dominance.”

Hub Pen Company Hires Robert Firth-Arnold as Buyer

Braintree, MA, June, 2017 – Hub Pen Company and Beacon Promotions are proud to announce Robert Firth-Arnold joined their Supply Chain Team as Buyer in May 2017.  The Minnesota native brings many years of experience as a buyer to the company, first with shopping network and portal Evine and with multi location industrial supply distributor Mars Supply since 2012.  Through his experiences with both companies Robert gained a wealth of knowledge of inventory analysis and control, cost and condition negotiations and the software that drives these functions.

Firth-Arnold recently moved to Massachusetts where he currently lives with his family in the South Shore town of Abington.  “I’m really enjoying working at Hub Pen,” Robert says.  “Every day is different, and I like that.” When not at Hub, his gardens and his musical instruments keep him busy.  “I played in the orchestra and also studied how to rebuild and repair string instruments back in the day,” he recalls.   “Now I spend more time working in the garden and play the guitar and piano now and then.”

IMAGEN Brands – Crown and Vitronic were recently awarded the 2016 Most Valuable Partner Award from Proforma Albrecht & Co. Rory Campbell, National Accounts Manager, accepted the award on behalf of IMAGEN Brands at the Proforma Albrecht & Co. Sales Achievement Awards Celebration at The Monastery in Cincinnati, OH on Tuesday, May 2nd. Campbell was also awarded Outstanding MVP Partner Rep of the Year.

Hub Pen Hires Danica Ford as Business Development Associate

Braintree, MA, June, 2017 – Hub Pen Company and Beacon Promotions are proud to announce Danica Ford has joined Hub’s sales team as Business Development Associate.  Danica comes to Hub with over seven years of sales experience as a Merchandising Lead for a popular clothing retailer, where she was also responsible for managing inventory.  She also worked as Assistant Manager at an entertainment and party venue, working closely with customers through all phases of events.

“I’m sure my experiences with sales and customer service will help drive me to reach out to new and potential Hub Pen distributors,” says Danica.  The South Shore native is already familiar with Hub as her mother is Customer Service Manager Chris Ford.  “I love the fact that Hub is still family managed.  There’s a family like feeling among the employees.  They really are all about the customers.”

Danica has a passion for music, playing guitar and piano and can read and write music.  “I love going to Guitar Center and playing all the different guitars,” she says.  She and her boyfriend also enjoy exploring New England, hiking and taking day trips on the weekends.

“Danica has extensive customer service savvy from her experience in the retail environment.  She is fantastic at delivering a high level of customer satisfaction,” says Hub’s Director of Sales Lisa Fosdick.  “We are lucky to have her on the team combining retail know how with the promotional product expertise at Hub.”

Promopet® (WOVIN Brands) acquires Handy Industries

WOVIN Brands, a Wisconsin-based supplier, including WOV-IN® (ASI 92980, PPAI 113213, SAGE 54020), Promopet® (ASI 79698, PPAI 468134, SAGE 69183) and Footprints USA (ASI 550030, PPAI 280344, SAGE 67681) has announced that they have acquired Handy Industries (ASI 78206, PPAI 163908, SAGE 60388). WOVIN Brands will relocate production to their facility in Jackson, WI and will begin processing all orders on Friday, June 16th. Handy’s automotive line will not be carried forward. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
