New Feature: Product / Catalog Link Generator

A link generator tool has been added to the catalog/websites area of DistributorCentral to allow you to quickly create a collection of products that can be added as a link to your website or sent via email to your customer.

When using the internal search engine within DistributorCentral look for the “Generate / Send Link to Products” feature.

With just a few pieces of information you can quickly create a link to a custom set of products, whether based on a particular keyword search, a selection of products from your favorite suppliers, or particular theme catalog that you have created, you can add your new link to your website or instantly email it to a client.

Once your link is created you can preview the link and see exactly what your customer will see.

PPAI Expo 2008

The DistributorCentral team is back from Las Vegas where we had an incredibly successful week at the 2008 Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) Expo. It was great to meet so many distributors and suppliers who are using our tools to streamline their business processes. It was also wonderful to put a face to all of you out there with whom we spend most of our time conversing by phone or email.

The team spent the week talking to distributors and helping them learn how to leverage DistributorCentral’s suite of online tools, teaching continuing education classes related to business and technology, participating in committee meetings with industry technology leaders, and meeting with suppliers to help them get their product lines up and running on our online catalog or migrate their order processing functionality onto the DistributorCentral platform.

As always PPAI put on top-notch show, complete with a wide array of educational courses, mixers, mentoring events, a great awards banquet where we had the pleasure of seeing a large number of DistributorCentral customers win major awards, a private concert with American Music Award-winning Daughtry, and an incredible expo with dozens of miles of incredible products from industry suppliers.

The Expo provided, as it does each year, a glimpse of industry trends, a peek at what our competitors are doing, and allows us to get face to face with our users to gauge where we need to go as we move forward as the Industry’s most-used online business tool. Thanks to all of you who stopped by our booth last week and thanks to everyone for helping spread the word about DistributorCentral!

Website Feature: Featured Product Block

We’ve added a Featured Product block to the website editor area.

To use this:
- Edit your website
- Select Add/Edit Webpages
- The Edit the page that you would like to feature products
- Once here, select the Featured Product – Choose Product tool from the content drop-down area,  then simply do a search to find the product you’d like to feature on your website, choose either “small, medium or large for the  image size, and you can check whether you would like to have the product display a description and/or pricing.  You can add multiple featured product blocks to a web page to quickly highlight specific products to your customers.

You can periodically change the products to keep your content fresh, or you can use the Random Product tool which will change the featured product each time that the visitor views your site.

This will feature the product(s) on your website, where your customers can then click on them to review the details or to even place an order. Click here to see an example of a website that is using the featured product tool.

Added bonus: search engines can pick up on the product detail information to help boost your page ranking.
